Heisman Ballot

(Week Seven)

1. Johnny F***ing Football, QB - Texas A&M

PASSING YARDS - 1835
TD/INT RATION - 14/5
RUSHING YARDS - 438
RUSHING TDs - 5
TEAM RECORD - [5-1]
BIG WINS - none
HEISMAN MOMENT - none
No one should be surprised that our vote is going to this man. He is simply the most entertaining athlete playing football right now...college or pro.

2. Marcus Mariota, QB - Oregon

PASSING YARDS - 1724
TD/INT RATIO - 17/0
RUSHING YARDS - 426
RUSHING TDs - 8
TEAM RECORD - [6-0]
BIG WINS - none
HEISMAN MOMENT - none
One of college football's best kept secrets this season has been the fact that Marcus Mariota has been every bit as good as Johnny Manziel. He has more passing TDs, less interceptions [as in zero], and more rushing TDs as well. The only thing he's missing is a big stage to showcase his talents. He will have games against Stanford and a conference championship game to show off to the rest of the country.

3. AJ McCarron, QB - Alabama

PASSING YARDS - 1406
TD/INT RATIO - 11/3
TEAM RECORD - [6-0]
BIG WINS - Texas A&M, Virginia Tech
HEISMAN MOMENT - McCarron went on the road and beat Johnny Manziel's Aggies head to head, throwing for 334 yards and four TDs in the process.
The consummate game manager has turned into an elite level passer. McCarron proved that he could go throw for throw with the most feared gunslinger in the country, and that has him firmly in the Heisman conversation. If the Tide roll to 12-0, AJ will role to New York City.

4. Zach Mettenberger, QB - LSU

PASSING YARDS - 1890
TD/INT RATIO - 15/2
TEAM RECORD - [6-1]
BIG WINS - none
HEISMAN MOMENT - none
The big man may not be accumulating any rushing yards, but he has more passing yards than any other candidate, a huge accomplishment for a quarterback who is operating out of a run first offense. Met makes the most impressive throws of anyone on this list, and may be the best future pro prospect out of the signal-callers receiving Heisman consideration. If he starts to grade out as a first rounder, it will only help his Heisman buzz as the season progresses.

5. "Famous" Jameis Winston, QB -Florida State

PASSING YARDS - 1441
TD/INT RATION - 17/2
RUSHING YARDS - 135
RUSHING TDs - 2
TEAM RECORD - [5-0]
BIG WINS - none
HEISMAN MOMENT - Against Boston College, Winston avoided pressure before gunning a Hail Mary down the sideline for a TD at the end of the first half. Later in the game he escaped the grasp of three defenders before bouncing out of the pocket for another TD pass.
The seal has been broken on freshmen winning the Heisman. Now that we've had one, everyone is on the lookout for the next youngster that is ready to set the world on fire. So far, Winston has delivered on the potential that had some people calling for him to start ahead of EJ Manuel last year as a true freshman [EJ Manuel is currently starting NFL games as a rookie quarterback, so he's pretty good]. Winston has the best highlight reel of any candidate, and he has the opportunity to notch the biggest win of any candidate if his team can beat Clemson next weekend in primetime.
